Sport: Deutscher Turnerbund

The Company

The Deutsche Turner-Bund (DTB = German Gymnastics Association) is, with its incorporation in the year 1848, the oldest and, at the same time, the second largest central organisation in the German sports. In one of the more than 20,000 member associations, more than 5 million members pursue sports, such as high-performance- and competitive sports, as well as mass-, recreational- and health sports, which have been integrated under the umbrella of DTB.
With the Gymnastics Festival being held every fourth year, the DTG hosts the world’s largest competitive- and mass sports event. In addition, the association is the regular host of several high-performance sporting events, such as, the WM Apparatus Gymnastics 2007 or the annual world cups in Cottbus and Stuttgart.

The Goal

Email marketing should be implemented as a new marketing instrument so as to regularly inform the various target groups (for example, male apparatus gymnasts) about the activities of the association, and to apply for the events. In order to be able to communicate more target-group-specific, the DTB would like to offer a personalised newsletter in the medium term, in which the users could compile the contents themselves.

The Solution

After extensive researches, the DTB decided for dialogue1 evolution (ASP), including the dialogue1 Mail Server. A professional newsletter template ensures the optimum presentation of the contents. Registrations pass through a Double-Opt-In-Process, so that only the desired emails are sent.

The Result

The implementation of dialogue1 evolution went remarkably successfully. Due to the easy-to-learn user interfaces, the first newsletter could be sent already within a few days. Open rate of more than 20% motivates for the expansion of the online activities.
The Gymnastics Festival Newsletter is the first newsletter, which the DTB published. After it was published, initially once a month, the delivery interval quickly increased to biweekly. Subsequently, the newsletter is always available in a public archive on the website. For this purpose, dialogue1 evolution provides an appropriate feature.
